The results of the first round of my most recent straw poll are in

The votes have been tabulated for Round 1 of my Republican Presidential Straw Poll and here are the results.

Fred Thompson, finishing in first place, has a large lead over his closest competitor Rudy Giuliani despite not having officially announced his candidacy.
Mike Huckabee had a surprisingly strong showing, making the cut for Round 2 and finishing ahead of John McCain.
Fred Thompson 39.1%, 114 votes
Rudy Giuliani 8.3%, 53 votes
Mitt Romney 11%, 32 votes
Newt Gingrich 10%, 29 votes
Mike Huckabee 6.9%, 20 votes
Ron Paul 4.2%, 12 votes*
Sam Brownback 3.7%, 11 votes*
John McCain 3.7%, 11 votes*
Duncan Hunter 1.7%, 5 votes*
Tom Tancredo 1.3%, 4 votes*

* Will not advance to next round
