No military action by any other country can be allowed in Pakistan: Waheed Arshad

Updated at 2125 PST

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Wednesday categorically stated that no military action by any other country will be allowed inside Pakistan’s territory on the pretext of chasing any extremist or terrorist element.

“ Neither we need foreign military support nor any other country can be allowed to take military action inside Pakistan,” said Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Waheed Arshad while talking to Geo News.

Pakistan army has the resilience and capability to undertake any type of military operation on large-scale for the pursuit of its targets, he said.

Reacting to US statements regarding military action inside Pakistan’s territory, he said, it seems that US has been frustrated after failure in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He dispelled the impression that the military operation in North Waziristan was aimed at pleasing any foreign country.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission.

Waziristan appears to be "Pakistan" territory only pro forma - it is, in fact, nearly as uncontrolled as it was when the British were fighting in the Khyber Pass. Perhaps we should be negotiating directly with the tribes. That is what the government of Pakistan does.

Maybe we could just drop him off there.

Perhaps we should be negotiating directly with the tribes.

IMHO that is exactly what we should do. These people live in an ancient tribal society that is still operating under the rules that were in force when Alexander the Great marched through the area. For all the bluster these people want wealth and security from outsiders more than they care about religion, love Bin Laden, or hate us.

My guess: They fear the central Pakistani state far more than they hate a country on the other side of the world.

The President should personally call the elders of these tribes to a conference across the border in Afghanistan and offer them an alliance with the US if they deliver Bin Laden and his cronies into our power and agree to fight our enemies for big $$$. That is the way things have been done in this part of the world for thousands of years. They want to conquer and pillage the next goat filled valley more than they want to kill us.

If they have to choose between Bin Laden or us, they know we have a lot more to give....

My position:

The security of the United States takes precedence over the whining of a country filled with terrorists.

If you want the United States to stay out of your country, then take care of the problem yourself, and in short order.

If you want to wait six years to take action, don’t be surprised if we take action ourselves.

If we’re feeling nice, we’ll notify you first.
If we're feeling tired of your crap, we’ll eliminate your government.

It pays to make us happy.

At least, that would be my take on things.
