“The problem is talk radio and the internet didn’t exist back then, making it easier to fool most of the people”

Most of the people were fooled in 2006 despite both.

Do a search on a search engine using Iraq, Iraq war, bush plan, surge, etc. even democrat corruption. Notice that the results are mostly left leaning? You have to know where to go to get non-left biased stuff. Most do not.

And to answer your question, yes, hence, fairness doctrine. They don’t need to anyway. The positive results about the surge will never reach the people. There’s too many filters.

I think conservative talk radio and the right-leaning websites will be gone before the '08 election. Some of the left-leaning sites may have to be sacrificed to get rid of places where people can get the "other side" of the news, but I don't think they'll put up much of a fuss since they will view it as to their advantage since they don't like free speech anyway.

Like you, I doubt that it's necessary, but the Democrats won't take any chances since they are going for the whole ball of wax.

I've been smelling a concerted Soros funded google bombing effort for some time. Try the same search for Democratic corruption. Results are all about Democrats ripping the Republicans for the "culture of corruption".
