hey hold your fire.. I did say it is an improvement over no carriers. of course, the UK has the same and different types of threats. Certainly, this has been considered in the design. No one expects the RN to replace the USN. But augmenting a US taskforce with additional aircraft and firepower is always welcome. In addition, now, the UK will adequately be able to defend the Falklands. :)

ermm...

without trying to sound to patriotic, I reckon we did a good job vis-a-vis the Falklands in the first place.

HMS’ QE and PoW will ‘augment’ a UK fleet and that, I hope, is it. All the best will in the world but we aren’t building these monsters to improve the strategic affairs of the US, they are being built to look after UK interests, end of story.

understood. but we tend to fight in the same wars, except those in South America. Remember the 'thing' called NATO? US Carriers carry the burden of world wide in your face politics. But when larger efforts are required, its nice to know the RN is there to help. Its been this way since WWII and unless the UK becomes Anglostan IMO it will stay that way.

we both stand for the similar general principles, so i conceed most wars either of our nations fight its likely that the other will be alongside. i just had my debate hat on man, and was giving it large!
