Rush on the Impeachment Kerfuffle
Blogs for Bush ^ | July 25, 2007 | Mark Noonan

Couldn't have said it better, myself:

FEINGOLD: Well, there's a lot of sentiment in the country, even the polls show it, for actually impeaching the president and the vice president. I think that they have committed impeachable offenses with regard to this terrorist surveillance program, making up their own program. What I am proposing is a moderate course, not tying up the Senate and the House with impeachment trial, but simply passing resolution that makes sure that the historical record shows the way they have weakened our country, weakened our country militarily and against Al-Qaeda and weakened our country's fundamental document, the Constitution. I think that's a reasonable course and does not get in the way of our normal work. But the American people are outraged at the way they've been treated. They are outraged at the dishonesty that they have been subjected to. The American people, we deserve better.

RUSH: This is unbelievable. If he means what he says, he's made up his own convenient set of lies and is living them as though they're reality, which is psychopathic. Tell a lie often enough and believe it, torture, the illegal spy program, impeachable offenses? It's like everything else these people are doing. All right, well, then let's see something! If the president has really done this, if he's really violated the Constitution, if he's violated his oath of office, if he lied to the American people, if he lied to you, if he did all of these things, then censure is zilch. It doesn't accomplish anything. It's gutless. It's just like getting out of Iraq. If you guys on the Democrat side really wanted out of Iraq, there is a simple constitutional way to do it, and that is to de-fund it. You've had ample opportunity to do that, but for some reason, despite the American people being so outraged, and having been lied to, the American people, in a blind rage out there at the dishonesty that they've been subjected to, why in the world, if that sentiment is as widespread as you believe, Senator Feingold, why can't you de-fund the war? And then, why can't you proceed with impeachment? You're not getting anything done anyway. Proceed with your normal work? What's your normal work?

Your normal day's work is harassing the president, harassing the administration, trying to secure defeat in Iraq, trying to demoralize the American people. Well, what better way to do that than go ahead and launch these impeachment proceedings and de-fund the war? You want to really do something, do it! But you're just engaging in symbolism here, placating who knows who, raising money for your primary campaign in the presidency and the general elections coming up in November of 2008. Do-nothing-good Congress is what this is, but your normal day hasn't been interrupted and it won't be interrupted if you go ahead with any of these plans that you've got, but you don't have the guts to really do it.

I'm not sure if its a matter of being psychopathic, or of just being stunningly obtuse - someone like Feingold, product of the 60's generation, is hard to pin down on such things. Psychotic or stupid is a debatable issue, but cowardly isn't - if the Democrats had any courage at all they would de-fund the war, and keep de-funding it no matter how many times President Bush veto'd it, and move articles of impeachment. If the Democrats really believe that the NSA's signals intelligence program violated the Constitution, then that is an impeachable offense; if the Democrats really believe that lies were used to get us into Iraq, then that is an impeachable offense; if the Democrats really believe that those US attorneys were fired because they were hot on the trail of GOP corruption, then that is an impeachable offense - so, move your articles of impeachment!

But they don't - so it doesn't matter if they think there's been impeachable offenses because they're stupid or insane, in the end they are just plain and simple yellow. Cowards - defeatists who make the French collaborators of WWII seem honorable in comparison. Quite honestly, I prefer the white hot fire of a Michael Moore to the wet noodles we have in the Democratic caucus - at least Moore will stick his neck out and make a firm fool of himself and take on all comers...these Democrats won't take a stand. Nothing is more nauseating than the man who blows neither hot nor cold, and the more I see of our Democrats, the more disgusted I become.

Because the Republicans successfully impeached Clinton.

Correct. And this is what the Scooter Libby thing was all about too...getting a high level person perjured because the Repubs did it to Clinton.

Pres. Bush was impossible...they tried for Cheney...and got Libby.

Um, Senator Feingold, what exactly are you talking about:

Rasmussen Poll shows that Americans oppose impeachment by 49%-39%. Gallup showed that more than 60% opposed it. And the latest Rasmussen shows that most Americans oppose even censure. Hmmmm. Sounds like you’re just not all the way there.

The war is their biggest weapon for ‘08! Why would they want to throw that away?

They are idiots, then. All Bush has to do is present a smart withdrawal plan in Summer 2008 that starts to bring home about 60% of the troops and withdraws the rest to a few bases in Iraq. Then they have lost their weapon.

This behavior is normal for someone in despair, hopeless, frustrated and trapped.

I guess that means that next thing we get to watch Sen. Feingold do is chew through his own wrist! If he does it on the floor of the Senate, CSPAN could carry it live.

I think thats how the timing is going to work out, with the surge being effective, and more local Iraqi control; then we and the Iraqis will be the winners and the Dims and Al Queda the losers.

You mean they are still sore losers? Even after Bush beat them a second time and proved it wasn't a rigged election in 2000?

Sore SoreLosermans?

The Demons have declared war on bush since the day he became the pres! Its not about the WOT or soldiers dying, all the better as far as the Demons are concerned. Its all about keeping bush from having any declared success in anything his administration does. And the Pubs just sit there and take it. Wheres’ the fight in ya you wankers!

When I listen to Chuckie Schmuckie Schumer and Feingold, I think of the Roman senators in all those old toga epics - what a bunch of losers and blankups!
