“Progressive” has ALWAYS been what communists have called themselves. Ever since the ‘30s, when the American Communist Party started, they used the term “Progressive”. David Horowitz tells about it in his book “Radical Son” I believe.
So when someone calls himself a Progressive, I just take it to mean they admit they’re a commie pinko bed-wetter.
Thank you for pointing out that Communists and Socialists have always identified themselves as “Progressives”. It is just a code word for Red.
Progressivism started out Ross Perot style, picking up Democrats and Republicans. The Republican Party now has become pretty much the original Progressive Party with a mixture of left and right. The left started hijacking the progressive name in the 1960s. The left has a long history of assuming new brands to confuse the voters. Today there are even many Democrats hiding behind a Republican label. A nest of leftism can't survive the disinfectant effect of a few minutes of direct sunlight.
Exactly. Henry Wallace ran for President in 1948 as a Progressive Party candidate with the endorsement of the Communist Party of America. While some say Wallace wasn't a Communist, his campaign organization was riddled with Communists including Paul Robeson. The term "progressive" has long been a synonym for "communist." A main plank in its platform called for universal health insurance. Ring a bell? Enough time has passed that the current generation thinks the word has reverted to its original meaning of "forward-thinking." Not true.
If any of you have auto insurance with Progressive Insurance you are patronizing a company founded by a Communist. Its present owner funds "progressive" causes in amounts about equal to George Soros.
