Hunter: 'Postage stamp' Israel should not give up 'one inch' of territory WASHINGTON — A contender for the Republican presidential nomination has ruled out an Israeli withdrawal as part of any peace accord with the Arabs.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, one of 10 Republicans vying for their party's 2008 presidential nomination, said Israel must not withdraw from "one inch" of territory as part of an Arab peace accord. Hunter, the former chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, termed Israel a "postage stamp of a country" that could not afford to cede territory.

On May 20, Hunter, a California Republican, voiced his position during a meeting with Christian Zionists in Alexandria, Va. He recalled his visit to the Golan Heights, the scene of intense armored battles with Syria during the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Why is he getting nowhere?

Uh, because he's running an 1800s-style campaign?

Look, I love the guy too, but don't blame the media for not promoting him. He has to do this on his own.

I understand... but from a campaign strategy standpoint - the media uses candidates, and candidated use the media. I haven’t made up my mind yet on who I’ll support, but Hunter is near the top of my list.

Who says he's getting nowhere? If you look at the Straw Polls, they tell a different story than the media polls. In the end, all we can do is our part which is to give the maximum we can afford, put a Hunter bumper sticker on our cars, write letters to the editors, tell friends, and make sure you show up and vote in the primary.

“Beware of who the Media hype”

In 2004, the MSM put it all on the line to try to influence the outcome of the presidential election. The effort will double in 2008. More than anything, the MSM wants to promote a Republican who can’t beat Hillary or Hussein Obama. If you watch the evening news on any of the big three networks or CNN, it’s obvious that the MSM considers this a race only between those two Democrats.

"Why is he getting nowhere?"

Because, in Kalifonia, no one wants to do a story on a Republican who is actually a conservative.

They like their Republicans to be dim lite in Kalifornia.

Sri Lanka and the P.I. should not be included in this muzzie map . Although muzzies do exist there , they certainly hold no majority and no national power. Let’s not give them more than their due already!
Europe however could almost be considered ‘in the green’ in many places.
A very bad situation

Your map should show Detroit and parts of Minnesota in green as well.

John Hawkins: Missile defense shield.

Duncan Hunter: Yes, and I’ve been a strong supporter of that. I’ve put in the initial money for missile defense when it first started, I supported it strongly then, and I supported missile defense for Israel, very strongly.

Incidentally, under my watch, we’ve actually deployed missile defense. We have our first missiles that are now deployed in Alaska and the west coast which had limited capability to intercept incoming ballistic missiles

To reiterate from the link:

==> “..I supported it strongly then, and I supported missile defense for Israel, very strongly. ..”

And here’s a heads up - Duncan Hunter will be at the Freedom Concert this Thursday so should probably be on Hannity’s radio show.

How right you are. I think the MSM is setting up Obama and Hillary so that they look like the perfect running mates. He is not too strong, not too experienced, and has a lot of potential for the future - let him learn at Hillary’s knee (pardon me on that image). After listening to Obama’s wife whine on about her rough life juggling work and a family and not finding time for herself, I was about to wretch - Why, she’s a younger version of Hillary — they will get along well.

“Why is he getting nowhere?”

IMO, because he’s not an OBL CFRer, not a SPP/NAUer and he has been very specific about how he will effectively secure the borders and how illegal immigration will be handled with attrition through enforcement.

Please don't rely on broad-stroked polling. When people are feeling "forced" to support someone they don't really believe in because they're told their guy can't win - that is when the Leftists in the MSM win. Straw polls are better.

The way for a low-budget campaign to win is to focus resources just on concentrated areas. That's why Hunter does well in the straw polls. His campaign's strategy cannot afford to shape "perception" across the whole nation - just voters in the states that vote.

It is a viable strategy. It may yet even work. This is doubly true of Hunter as he has such potentially broad appeal among the GOP faithful, i.e. he's no single-issue "fringe" candidate, but the real deal.

The big outing for Duncan Hunter will come after he wins a state or two. "Who IS that guy? Never heard of him. What are his positions? What does he believe?" THAT is when the MSM attention will come. Don't lose heart, my FRiend!!

I’ll never understand why anyone would prefer either Fred Thompson or (especially) Ron Paul to Duncan Hunter!
