“What on earth is marching on a live firing range going to accomplish?”

Moving targets?

“Pinkerton Agents” filled in a similar void in the late 1800s during the taming of the Old West.

While they may have "filled a void" as you say, the tactics they used were often reprehensible, and blatantly un-Constitutional. I used to work for CPP/Pinkerton, and I can personally attest that the quality of the personnel they hired often left a great deal to be desired...

Could be a marketing ploy, maybe they are trying to dispel rumors and fantasies. To give you an idea, the Chicago Tribune likes to make believe that private gun ownership is a Texas thing while nearly the entire country is allowing concealed weapons.

I would have thought they would have put the facility in Missouri rather than Illinois. However Illinois is one of the more generous states for veterans. If a rep wanted to score points with the NRA or veterans, blackwater is a place to go.

Sometimes I think these leftists will throw one of their own kids into a live range to give blackwater bad press.

I’m still trying to figure out how someone who lives in Illinois, one fo the state of the union, could say: “We’re tucked away here in a no man’s land”

Since when has Illinois been a no-man’s land?

Blackwater’s NC headquarters is literally down the street from my sister’s home. I’ll have to ask if they see any commies...er...peaceniks or any other odd shenannigans around their place.

What on earth is marching on a live firing range going to accomplish?

Depends on the direction they come marching from.

BTW - the teddy bear should be packing, IMO.

He is, you just don't know it. They are that good.

LOL!! What made you think I was putting myself down? Nope, they hated to see me go, as I was several cuts above what they usually hired, but they paid too little...

Anyways...further on, the article mentions that Blackwater is looking to also open a facility in North San Diego County.

I'm looking forward to that facility opening myself. We have an outstanding national-level LE oriented training company here in LA, but a more fully-equipped location would be a good addition to the mix. Driving all the way to Paulden is no fun in the summer...

It’s “controversial” because Blackwater USA is a corporate for-profit para-military contractor that provides many support services for the DOD in Iraq, Afghanistan and other miltary theaters of operation. Blackwater USA was founded by a former US Navy SEAL commando. Because of these facts about Blackwater, hand-wringing liberal MSM types at the Chicago Tribune have deemed Blackwater USA “controversial.”

That’s O.K. Because I consider pansy surrender monkeys working in MSM organizations “controversial” too!

Robert Pelton (World’s Most Dangerous Places) has a book on Blackwater. I like some of his stuff but he’s Canadian and a closet leftie.

A Bloody Business is supposed to be a good read on all contractors, including but not limited to shooters.

If you’re thinking of Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army, read the many 1-star reviews on Amazon. Such as “This book is a leftist political screed attacking Christians, patriots, Republicans, the Bush administration and anyone to the political right of Lenin and Mao. I thought it would be a professional and objective book. What I found was just the opposite. It is not worth a dime.” And many more like that.

Do you think the Chicago Tribune and these wacky Libs would be protesting if this place was an Islamberg, where radical Islamists are training and shooting and are suspiciously a very closed community? Do you think they would be complaining if this was another Jamaat al-Fuqra terrorist organization/cult base? No, the Libs are protesting this Blackwater training center simply because this center is training people to fight AGAINST the terrorists. If Blackwater was run by Islamic terrorists, these peace protesters probably wouldn’t touch it, because they think the radical Islamic terrorists are peaceful.

The Radical Left Libs are really sick, really disgraceful. These people should move to Iraq or Afghanistan, if they think terrorists are so great!

the more distant possibility that low-paid local police might end up working lucrative jobs for Blackwater overseas.

Perhaps they should have thought about that earlier and

PAID THEM MORE.

I agree, I found it, I did not buy it.

Read the book: BLACKWATER by Jeremy Scahill. It's fairly interesting but in the liberal handwringing and whining of the author you'll see the bias. The founder of Blackwater and most of the senior staff are extremely evangelical Christians. That fact alone seems to drive the liberals nuts. Personally I don't see the big problem. I guess for the purveyors of the NWO, God + Guns + Guts equals big trouble for the forces of evil. Hmmmmm?

That was real bright, moving to one of the most anti-gun states in the USA.

Perhaps Blackwater will schedule a special “Simunitions Day” to coincide with the march...
