Dumb post, demonstrates a staggering lack of knowledge of this topic.
‘I just don’t accept that American Pit Bull Terriers are naturally some kind of “killing machines” likely to go off at any time. If properly socialized, they are great dogs.’
Good for you. This myth about pitbulls is pervasive.
There is no such thing as a vicious breed of dog.
There are vicious dogs, as you unfortunately learned. Glad you didn’t let that one ugly incident scar your brain.
Ive seen some sweet pits, but they still make me nervous. Any dog, even well-socialized ones, can go off momentarily ... its just that a pit can do so much damage before it pulls back and goes oops.
Had a funny encounter at the dog park this morning. A pit tried to hump my Pug the Pug went seriously hostile on the pit, which turned tail and ran off.
Thats a fair statement.
‘Keep the dog on a leash or on your own property and there should be no problem what kind of dog you own.’
Exactly.
We have three dogs currently, two ‘adults’ that are 85 pounds, and a 18 week old ‘pup’ that will probably get to be the same size as the other two.
Our yard, even though we are in the Appalachian Zone (very rural) has a split rail fence with ‘dog wire’ to keep them in.
Not because I’m worried about them biting anyone, but to protect THEM from what wanders around the countryside here....like rednecks that believe you are supposed to run over any living thing in your pickemup truck.....
