The NATO force in Afghanistan is a historic first and it belies the falsehood that we are on the outs with all of our allies. Those who didn’t join in Iraq have gracefully and bravely taken up the Afghan cause.
Sorry; I have to disagree that countries have atoned for their failure to participate in Iraq.The French and the Germans, especially, should remember what their countries would look like today if America had not stepped up 65 years ago. They could easily take the lead in a UN force that would provide peace-keeping in Iraq. Instead, they choose to stay at home and let the US take the heat and casualties.
