Try as I might I can’t see any difference in the tactics between these two groups.

The difference is in power and ability, not tactics. China is an example of how fast radical Islam would be eliminated by the West if we really got serious about it. We're not serious, as a result, Islamists run free.

China, on the other hand, ultimately dreams of colonizing pretty much all of Asia, from Siberia to Vietnam to the Philippines to Taiwan to Korea. I studied for a short while in Beijing, and there are maps in schools showing all those lands to basically be Chinese unclaimed territory. Just close your eyes for a minute and imagine a China that big. That's their goal for the 21st century. Taiwan is just the beginning.

As far as long term threats, Islam is the lesser of two evils here. They're crazy fanatics who dream big and talk trash, but they're not organized and ruthless like China.

Yes, there are still maps such as that in many class rooms. The Chinese Nationalists (KMT or Guomindang) still believe that Mongolia is an integral part of China, and would endeavor to take it back if they were to run China (which would, of course, actually be a better choice, even with that factored in). You can also see such maps in various published books in China.

Philippines Air Force officer friends of ours tell us of continued problems with the Chinese navy in the South China Sea regarding certain islands recognized as belonging to the Philippines.

Taiwan has submitted its first formal application to join the United Nations.

The Chinese foreign ministry immediately dismissed the move, saying it was "doomed to failure".

Taiwan has long campaigned to join the UN but all such attempts have been blocked by China which regards the island as a breakaway province.

The government in Taipei held the UN seat for China until 1971 when it was replaced by Beijing.

Well Steel Wolf, looks like you hit the mark with your analyst of China. Do you think Nixon sold out Taiwan back in 1971?

Also, sometime after the 2008 summer Olympics Taiwan is toast and if Hilldabeast is elected she will do nothing about it.

I strongly disagree here. While I am no big fan of China, but at least they don’t want to take us back to the 7th century! I don’t see Chinese women wearing full length veils. And I’ve never heard of a Chinese suicide bomber. In short, the Chinese culture is a lot closer to ours than the Islamics. In fact, the Chinese are slowly becoming more Westernized. Bottom line—I see no value in Islamic culture whatsoever. Let the Chinese have Asia if they can tame (or eliminate) the Islamists.
