More people were killed with shovels than guns, but two farmers squabbling over water isn't very exciting.
Oddly, they never mention the "Old East" where the Gotti's, the Capones, Colombos and Gambinos hung out.

Yup. IIRC correctly, the crime wave that brought federal marshalls to Dodge City had exactly one murder.
And it really wouldn’t have been that different from the “Old East” in principles.
Geesh, you’d think noone freely carried firearms outside the “old West”.
