my guess is that your expertise in rare books is about ZILCH. (mine certainly is not much better.)
otoh, you DID once say that you were unable to think of anything that you were NOT an expert on. (as i said at that time, that's called being a "know-all")

Oh I've done enough buying and selling in books to have a pretty good idea of what goes on. I'll agree with you, however, that, based on what you've been saying, your expertise in the area is most likely at the sub-ZILCH level. This guy, assuming the ad is on the level, is probably hoping to hit the jackpot by trolling for a sucker with similar know-how that will buy his $10 book for a thou. Love the line about wanting to fund his education with the proceeds.
