President Bush yesterday said Americans will soon realize they need the immigrants and foreign temporary workers that would have been allowed by his immigration bill, which was defeated in the Senate last month.
Mr. Bush, in a town hall session in Nashville, Tenn., also refused to say whether he will pardon two U.S. Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a fleeing drug-smuggling suspect, saying the prosecutor was a friend of his who made his case to the jury that convicted the agents.
If Mr. Bush was hoping the immigration issue would disappear after his bill's failure, those hopes were dashed, as he was asked repeatedly about border security during the forum meant to highlight his commitment to cutting the deficit.
"The bill failed and I can't make a prediction to you at this point, sir, where it's going to head," the president told one questioner. "I can make you a prediction, though, that pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying, man, we're running out of workers."
Mr. Bush said there are workers who will do jobs Americans aren't doing in the agriculture sector in particular, and without them the jobs will go unfilled.

The facts remain the same. Americans are dieing at an elevated rate because of illegal immigration and we are attempting to justify that by saying we get cheap food. If that were true it would be bad enough but it’s not true. The hidden cost of the cheap food, schools, emergency rooms etc. nullifies any savings.
If the facts are on our side, we don’t need to make-up numbers.
I haven’t made up any numbers.
I grew up in South Jersey and I can tell you for a fact that about 50% of the produce was picked by Immigrant labor. This was in the late 1960’s through the mid 1970’s. I worked on many of those farms as a kid.
Neither have I. Your point?
A government for and by the corporation.
It’s all about profit. It’s all about the bottom line with these globalist.
To hell with the American standard of living.
I made a post in answer to your post and you ignored it to comment on the content of another post.
Exactly.
But the majority of Americans are not on your side, we want the border sealed and the illegals deported. Then we can decide how many legal immigrants we need and from where with what skill set.
He musta played the Red Queen...
Please review our exchange. I made a comment that forty murders per day attributed to illegal aliens is probably inaccurate, and you responded "Yeah, but." So what? The number's inaccurate.
Your side the OBL are losers, 3 times running. 2006 and twice in 2007. So far the American people are winning, the globalist elites are not.
Yes ... by all means ... don't thank the farmer who put his assets at risk year after year, or the truckers that haul the stuff ... let's drop to our knees and give thanks to someone who illegally enters and stays in the country and costs us money. That makes abundant sense.
Of course, if the Mexican you feel so deeply for is here legally and working on the books, he deserves credit too, but certainly not exclusively.
The whole argument is about legal versus illegal, they always try to make it about racism which is just a red herring. We can have all the immigrant labor we need but they need to be documented, they should not be allowed to abuse our facilities and the employers should be made to pay the actual cost of their labor instead of passing it on the us. These guys know all this they just won’t admit it. Truth be known most of the people on this forum defending illegals are the one’s hiring them.
President Bush yesterday said Americans will soon realize they need the immigrants...
Bush is calling us “stupid” AGAIN.
My side is “the OBL?” For the mere fact that I appeared on this thread to comment that a number is inaccurate? What side do you represent? The Clueless?
And I gave you that and said even if that numbers as stated is wrong there is a correlation between illegals and American deaths. Of course you choose to ignore it it’s a favorite tactic not to debate but go off on another tangent. You still haven’t responded to my original post.
I have seen your other posts.
