Bush: Americans will realize need for aliens
The Washington Times ^ | July 20, 2007 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 07/20/2007 6:17:46 PM PDT by Baladas

President Bush yesterday said Americans will soon realize they need the immigrants and foreign temporary workers that would have been allowed by his immigration bill, which was defeated in the Senate last month.

Mr. Bush, in a town hall session in Nashville, Tenn., also refused to say whether he will pardon two U.S. Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a fleeing drug-smuggling suspect, saying the prosecutor was a friend of his who made his case to the jury that convicted the agents.

If Mr. Bush was hoping the immigration issue would disappear after his bill's failure, those hopes were dashed, as he was asked repeatedly about border security during the forum — meant to highlight his commitment to cutting the deficit.

"The bill failed and I can't make a prediction to you at this point, sir, where it's going to head," the president told one questioner. "I can make you a prediction, though, that pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying, man, we're running out of workers."

Mr. Bush said there are workers who will do jobs Americans aren't doing in the agriculture sector in particular, and without them the jobs will go unfilled.

Whoa is me! How did we EVER get by before?

What I rarely see mentioned is that we WERE doing all this ourselves until about a decade ago!! Then, well, you know the rest of the story. But, it's not as if we have been using this criminal labor for THAT many years, that we can't go back.

And if people can't eat fast food for a few days, or stay in a hotel, or the elites have to make their own breakfast or take care of their own children, so be it. It's NOT like most of them are working in agriculture - after all, I've seen stats that anywhere from 29 - 41 are sitting around on some type of welfare.

And for the second day in a row in the desert south of me, another 10 year old lost his mother who was breaking into the country with him. IF they had succeeded, WHO would be providing EVERYTHING for them??

This same stupid picture is posted in every immigration thread. It’s getting boring.

This "picture" which seems to bother and bore you so much is what many of us in the border states have to look at, live, every day. It's sickening, but the picture is real.

Keep posting that picture, traditional1, it needs to be posted to remind people about these "hard working" and "family oriented" illegal aliens that Bush loves so much that he's invited the rest of their country in to invade us even further.

Not sure if you've seen this thread - here is that quote I mentioned earlier:

"The bill failed and I can't make a prediction to you at this point, sir, where it's going to head," the president told one questioner. "I can make you a prediction, though, that pretty shortly people are going to be knocking on people's doors saying, man, we're running out of workers."

That's like being proud of having a bad case of herpes.

Unfortunately there is no cure for herpes. After 18 plus years of Bush/Clinton, looks like our disease may also be incurable.

“I’ll thank my brother and SIL too. They have one helluva garden that we’ve been eating out of for sometime now.”

My parents have an acre set aside for a garden. The whole family (myself, brother and his 4 kids) help Dad plant, weed & harvest. The womenfolk do the canning. That little garden feeds a dozen people for almsot an entire year. We even each have our own herb gardens at our separate homes.

Dad and us boys fish almost ten months of the year and hunt in the fall. Except for a very few items I haven’t been in a grocery store in years.

That is how we got by before. Families helping each other.

The dirty little secret is that it is not the farm workers that matter. They are just the most visible. The real crunch for labor is in all those warehouses in Los Angeles and other near border city states. Frankly, those businesses however are competing with other legitimate businesses located within the heartland. How is someone in the Midwest who is hiring legal Americans going to compete with someone in Los Angeles that has a facility manned by illegals ?

The Nile is a River that runs through FR. All the Border Guards pretend the crops will just plant and harvest themselves.

"Border guards"? What border guards? It sounds like you are one of those on welfare or after Hurricane Katrina who can't take care of himself/herself. You also must not believe in American innovation whatsoever.

This "picture" which seems to bother and bore you so much is what many of us in the border states have to look at, live, every day. It's sickening, but the picture is real.

If this was true you wouldn't be stuck with posting the same picture over and over again for months on end.

You would have new material to provide us "every day" as you claim. But you don't.

Keep posting that picture, traditional1, it needs to be posted to remind people about these "hard working" and "family oriented" illegal aliens that Bush loves so much that he's invited the rest of their country in to invade us even further.

In which case you are being deceitful and dishonest.

That picture doesn't represent the majority of hardworking family oriented illegals and you know it.

Do you people even care how you discredit yourself with this nonsense?

“Where you going to find these law abiding people to pick the crops??”

I believe that you could get enough laborers if you were to pay them say, $30/hr. The problem is that farmers want help but are unwilling to pay them.
