The book of Job makes me hope that if God exists, he ignores me. Lest he feel the need to use me to win a bet with Satan.

Heinlein wrote a book he titled, JOB: A Comedy of Justice. Here's a memorable quote:

Theology is never any help; it is searching in a dark cellar at midnight for a black cat that isn't there. Theologians can persuade themselves of anything.

There are some interesting speculations in that book, which does replay the Job theme.
