The PR isn’t done, this whole situation has only just begun and Nike knows it. The indictments only came out Tuesday, nobody even knows what Vick is going to do about any of this situation. Nike has made a public statement about the pulling of the new shoes, the fact that there will be no commercials with Vick until further notice, and that for now the existing Vick labeled products will remain available. As for putting information on their website, notice they don’t seem to have anyplace for press releases, so putting some statement out would have been a redesign and they probably decided it wasn’t worth the effort. I haven’t actually managed to find any of the Michael Vick merch on their site, not saying it’s been pulled I just can’t find it, the site kind of sucks actually.
Doesn’t seem that tough to find the contact info, down at the bottom Customer Service link, followed by Contact Us, just like every other corporate website out there. Why should they have a special phone number to explain their process? They put out a press release, it’s been written up in stories on the NFL website and ESPN, Michael is just one of many many athletes whom they use as spokepersons and a source of product names. There’s no reason for them to obsess on the situation, in fact they don’t want to publicly stay tied to it any longer than is absolutely necessary. When you’re on the sideline of a PR situation like Nike is that’s the general tactic, just enough separation to make people stop bothering then shut up and stop drawing attention to your connection.
Yes Nike has a legal department, that has probably told them if they morals clause out of their contract with Vick and he gets acquitted they’ll lose any suit he choses to bring, best to just let it ride and wait for a conviction. There’s actually not a risk if they don’t drop him, in a couple of weeks with no new Vick products and no new Vick commercials Nike will be safely out of the PR storm, then if he’s convicted they can quietly burn his contract and move on.
I despise people that mistreat animals. I have four kittys that are like family. I really wish people would get outraged about protecting humans from molesters and abortionists in the same fashion as they do animals.
Robert Byrd waxed so sad and outraged over dogs, does anyone know if he ever has done this for an innocent human?
Mistreatment and killing humans and critters is just wrong.
Yes, this is true. I have three cats who all insist I stand in the kitchen while they eat. But I indulge them, because I love them and they love me back and they all are fine mouse catchers, but if I can get the mice alive, I free them.
My husband and I have lived all our married lives with stray cats and we have loved them dearly and the love has been returned.
This is a link from Peta’s website for complaining to NFL.

I think Vick is more than just idiotic don’t you?
Did that yesterday, thanks.
I don’t much like PETA but they have the clout to keep this thug’s name in the paper. In Vick’s case, I will back them up. I already sent my fax from their website. Where is the ASPCA?
There is plenty of irony in the anger of PETA being directed at Vick. I wonder if Vick was angry at PETA a couple of years ago when it was shown conclusively that PETA had picked up stray and/or unwanted animals “to give them a kind home,” then had injected the animals, killing them, then disposed of the carcasses in local dumpsters serruptitiosly.
People who have Pit’s have known Vick’s name for a long time now.
Good for you.
At least Michael Vick has a nice brother, you know, the one who was so good that no one drafted him after he stepped on the body of a downed player - very intentionally.
I did see one interview by one of their reps, think it may have been O'Reilly. So it appears they're available for interviews, but aren't getting many calls.
PETA has gotten so much publicity in recent years with all of their outrageous statements and stunts, that they now seem to be better known than the ASPCA and the Humane Society, and are getting the phone calls from the news media.
The dogpack would tip the goal posts over.
You are absolutely correct. Vick did this to himself, And any action taken by Commisioner Goodell is absolutely warranted.
PETA needs help hogging the spotlight.
Scr*w PETA.
