Construction on the wall already has begun in Arizona, Chertoff said. Washington aims to have "operational control" of the border by 2013 by building the 700-mile (1,120-km) wall along parts of the frontier and creating a "virtual fence" in desert areas with drones, sensors, cameras, satellite technology and vehicle barriers.

Maybe we could go directly to ‘GET RID OF CHERTOFF’ to make our point.

Chertoff is gone for sure when Bush leaves. Clinton’s Sec Of Homeland Sec will sadly do less.

Nehemiah led the “Minutemen” of ancient Israel—

8 I replied, “There is no truth in any part of your story. You are making up the whole thing.”

9 They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination. “Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.”

15 So the wall was completed...in fifty-two days.

16 When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.

17 During those fifty-two days, many letters went back and forth between Tobiah and the nobles of Judah.

18 For many in Judah had sworn allegiance to him because his father-in-law was Shecaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan was married to the daughter of Meshullam son of Berekiah.

19 They kept telling me about Tobiah’s good deeds, and then they told him everything I said. And Tobiah kept sending threatening letters to intimidate me.

Chertoff is an ugly puppet of George W. Bush. Bush doesn’t want the fence and Bush is doing his best to stall and drag his feet. The Republican party is going to pay for it in ‘08.

This is WHY we must elect DUNCAN HUNTER.

He has promised to have the border secured in 6 MONTHS. At the rate Chertoff is working, Hunter says it will take decades.

Not another candidate has been as specific about WHAT he will do and HOW he will get the job done!!

During WW II, less than 12,000 officers and soldiers constructed a 1,524 mile road from BC to Alaska in less than 9 months. Most of this construction took place in almost complete, uninhabited, wilderness and in cold weather.

>>
The Alaska Highway, also the Alaskan Highway, Alaska-Canadian Highway, and the Alcan Highway, runs from Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Delta Junction, Alaska, via Whitehorse, Yukon. Its historical length as of all-weather completion in 1943 is 2,451 kilometers or 1,523 mile(s) long. The historic ending of the highway is near milepost 1422, where it meets the Richardson Highway in Delta Junction, Alaska, about 100 miles (160km) southeast of Fairbanks. Mileposts on the Richardson Highway are numbered from Valdez, Alaska.

From the looks of it, while the administration loves to use the phrase “war on terror”, it is clear that the bureaucracies don’t understand we are really at war with people who want to destroy the nation and kill as many of us as possible.

How many OTM’s are going to sneak into the US via Mexico, and how much stuff are they going to drag along with them, stuff that might cause death and destruction of US citizens?

It also sends a message to terrorists that they’ve got plenty of time to enter.

Everybody take a breath.

The administration and the powers that be have gotten the message, NO guest worker program and NO amnesty until border security shows real progress.

The administration is finally doing what we demanded and we now need to support them. More agents, more technology and better tactical infrastructure are absolutely required to control our borders.

At this point we are winning on all fronts, the debate is over, border security comes first. If we keep kicking the administration to the curb they may loose interest, hold their feet to the fire yes, but also support them when they are on the right track.

Yes, they will be back with another comprehensive immigration bill. With the borders under control we can take a serious look at it at that time, but in the interim we need to milk all the enforcement out of them we can.

Don’t worry! By then illegals headcount will be at around 30-50mm+ and building any walls will be pointless. Better save this money for SS and Meds.

2013?!?!?!??!?!? Memo to Chertoff: I have a “feeling in my gut” that you are as full of “it” as a hippo that ate 3 bean burritos, 4 bowls of eight-alarm chili, topped of with a prune and all-bran compote!

Major Malfunction: “General McChertoff, the Germans are demanding our surrender. Do you have a pithy answer, let’s say—a one-word response to them that will inspire our troops, especially following what happened at Malmedy recently?”

“Yes, I do major.”

(Long pause)

“Well, sir?”

“I’m thinking, I’m thinking . . . “

A simple 8’ fence would do just fine...U just have to have it backed up by sensor detonated claymores on our side... pointed south.....Plenty of warning signs in foreign languages...Ill design it for free...Could have it operational in 6 months...

I would even opt for voice messages broadcasting that the area is mined for those who can't read.

Our Orwellian Department of “Homeland Security” rides again. Border security during a war against terrorists a top priority? GWB and Chertoff will get around to it. Maybe. One of these days.
