Junk Science: Carbon Offsets Buyer Beware
By Steven Milloy
Congress began investigating the carbon offset industry this week. The inquiry could produce some inconvenient truths for Al Gore and the nascent offset industry.

So how many offsets supposedly compensated for the CO2 sins of Al Gore and the dozens of individuals credited with producing a movie shot in Nashville, Los Angeles, and Beijing? According to a Web site release from NativeEnergy which has since been removed it only cost 40 tons of offsets (worth about $480) to make An Inconvenient Truth carbon neutral.
Its an absurdly low figure given that the making of a 30-second television commercial can easily produce 50 tons and the movie Syriana another NativeEnergy project was supposedly offset with 2,040 tons worth of offsets

Is NativeEnergy the company that Al Gore is on the board of? Can't believe there are companies that are actually buying into the carbon offsets scam, do they think it'll increase business or something?

We should start a carbon credit fund for Free Republic. If the liberals are stupid enough to give their money away, then why not use their money to power the servers?

Congress began investigating the carbon offset industry this week. That's way over the competency level of the 110th, they're not collectively smart enough to recognize fraud.
And so it goes.

My wife buys up carbon in the form of diamonds. Your payment of $2000 ties up carbon in her new diamond earrings.

I saw here someone selling carbon-offset offsets where if you pay the seller enough he'll chop down enough trees to cancel out someone else's carbon offsets. Does anyone have a link?

Decades ago, our Government convinced Us that Daylight Savings Time saves Energy. Yet the Summer “peak demand hours” are from 5 PM to Dusk.
Dusk comes LATER because of DST. Think about it!
Without DST, the Evening Cooling would come an hour sooner. Un-airconditioned bedrooms would become sleep-able an hour sooner. Drive-in Movie Theaters would still be viable, they could start their shows an hour earlier. Would have more light for their garden chores or morning walks.
