Yeah, if you are talking about the poor folk living in the ghetto. Lots of bad choices there, but I had a bunch of well of black friends in prep school, and they were hassled purely because of their skin color.
As I recall, in school you were likely to get harassed for anything - the clothes you wore, your hairstyle, the way you talk, physical deformities, or any other unusual characteristics that make you stand out. I am not going to wring my hands and cry because black skin or kinky hair was included in that category. I do not see that as any kind of indication of racial oppression. Some people just need to toughen up.

I was talking to a graduate of West Point who was there when women were allowed to attend. He mentioned one of his female classmates wrote a book of her experience. She talked about how she was harassed as a woman her freshman year. His comment was, “Then what was the reason they were harassing me.” She was being treated as badly as all the other plebes but assumed she was singled out.
