I have this old ratty flag and I don’t know the proper way to dispose of it. I asked my wife what was proper and she said you burn them. I then said that that’s what protestors do and then she gave me that look.

Well, she is right, though. That is the respectful way.

The Boy Scouts do this, but they do it with honor and respect. After all, you don’t throw an American flag in the trash.

When I was a kid, you used to take damaged, old flags to a firehouse and they disposed of them. But that was in the 50’s.
