Tommy Thompson has consistently opposed illegal immigration, this is not an newfound position he embraced every since arriving in Iowa. FReepers have been too busy worshipping the other Thompson (the one that earned a career "D" rating on preventing amnesty during his time in the Senate, but if you mention that to his suporters, they'll flame you) to notice Tommy.

Tommy, Duncan, and Tancredo have been the only candidates in this race to have shown themselves to be proven reliable conservatives, across the board.

I don't think it has anything to do with them disliking each other, it has to do that both men are in their mid-60s and reluntant to accept a number #2 spot on the ticket, knowing it would be very unlikely they'd ever rise to commander-in-chief from that slot.

BTTP. And yet the Fredheads who fault TT for being with HHS during Bush's 1st term, don't seem to have a problem with Fred "standing behind" McCain throughout the 2000 election, even AFTER McCain Evangelical leaders bigots and pushed for blanket amnesty for illegal aliens.
