Iran unveils its first fighter jet

TEHRAN, July (ISNA)-Iran's minister of defense gave news that the Islamic Republic of Iran would soon unveil its new domestically manufactured fighter jet.

Brigadier General Mustafa Mohammad Najar while stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran was reaching self sufficiency in its military and defense industry noted that "Azarakhsh" would soon join Iran's air force.

"Soon our fighter, Azarakhsh which is another step taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran so to reach self sufficiency in its military and defense industry will fly."

This official also gave news that Iran was expecting to unveil a new national helicopter.

When asked if the sanctions imposed on Iran had effected Iran's military industry's export or not, Najar explained that this industry was progressing with full power and that such sanctions could not effect its development.

"Not only have we not faced a fall in our export figures, but we even are predicting a boost," he said.

"Our military industry is progressing daily and the physiological wars and propagandas initiated by enemies have no effect on our will."

For those keeping track at home, the Azarakhsh is essentially a reverse-engineered Northrop F-5 with Russian avionics.

Just like the jets that the Iraqis flew to Iran to escape destruction at the hands of our Air Force except there’s a fresh coat of paint over the Iraqi insignias.
