Ive also been known to cast aspersions on the manhood of middle-aged guys who drive Corvettes
You got to go easy on this one. Corvettes aren't cheap and many men can't afford one until middle age. I'd like to buy one, but I've been out of college for only 2 and a half years, and buying even a 10 year old Corvette for a second vehicle would be hard on my money.

I have my heart set on classic British racing green with the camel top. I'm hoping for several more years out of my current ride, so I'll be in my 40s before I get it. Is that a mid-life crisis? But hey, I'm not balding or graying, so it's all good.
Either way, I have my pick-up line all worked out. Drive up in my tiny little car, shrug, and say "I'm undercompensating."

It was a nice 73 C10 Chevy pickup with a 350ci and 4 barrel carb. After three years of headers, dual exhaust, Holly carb, 3/4 race cam, stick shifter and several other things I didn't need, the truck became so fast I could no longer keep up with it. Now, 39 years latter when I can afford to fix up a hotrod, I would rather buy a new car just the way I want it, practical.

I hear ‘ya! I’ve wanted one since I was eight years old. The money situation has gradually gotten better as I’ve gotten older and at this rate, I figure I’ll be able to buy one when I’m about 99 years old. Gonna do it, too. ;-)

Exactly! I had a girlfriend who said "Look at that old guy driving a Vette-- disgusting!" Pissed me off. The guy probably spent all his money on his family and couldn't afford the car until his kids were out of college.

Very true. The ones who should be mocked are young guys like us who drive dream cars they can't really afford. Some of my coworkers (under 30 years old) have recently gotten new sports cars, and I totally cringed in disbelief when I heard the financing terms that they'd agreed to. A couple of them can afford it because they still live with their parents, but what sort of person would rather live with their parents at age 25 just to drive a cool car? I'm much happier putting equity into my own house and driving a used Camry.
