A more perfect union?
The Washington Times ^ | 7-18-07 | Elizabeth Miller

The real reason behind President Bush's push for immigration reform, says author Jerome R. Corsi, is to unite the United States, Mexico and Canada by erasing borders and creating a "North American Union."

That is the theme of Mr. Corsi's new book, "The Late Great USA: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada," which says the Bush administration's "globalist agenda" is leading to a merger of the countries through the implementation of policies and laws to open trade barriers and renovate the highway systems in anticipation of increased travel within the new megastate.

Mr. Corsi said a growing number of Americans think the North American Union is being forced onto Americans. Government officials say the idea is no more than an unjustified conspiracy theory spread through the Internet.

Mr. Corsi said the impetus of the plan was the creation of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, announced by leaders of the United States, Mexico and Canada at Waco, Texas, in 2005.

The White House-led partnership is a trilateral effort to increase security and enhance prosperity through greater cooperation and information sharing, according to the SPP's Web site (www.spp.gov).

The SPP is not a treaty or agreement, but the Web site calls it a dialogue among the countries and their leaders.

Good luck in your squirrel slaying adventures. I have a couple of tomcats who are pretty good at squirrel hunting, so if you’re in Fl, they might be available for a small mercenary fee- paid in cat treats, of course.

Most Americans won't know what hit them and then be stunned when they realize this has been in the making for some time and didn't see it.

And the rest who ARE informed but want Americans to STAY uninformed are as traitorous as those who are intimately involved with this......all for 30 pieces of silver.

I hope they all choke on it!

Bush may need to go into hiding before this is all over; who is left to alienate?

One night, during a heated exchange between contestants, one player blurted out, "I can name that tune in No notes:" and he did.

I don’t remember, but there has been more than one time when I have correctly guessed the phrase on Wheel of Fortune based solely on the clue and the word structure required to fill in the blanks with a totally blank puzzle.

Such talent....I was always thrilled when I could guess before it went around a third time. : )

I wasn’t too bad with guessing on the Wheel of Fortune...sometimes I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t obvious more quickly to the contestants. OTOH, being on t.v., and in front of a live audience, doesn’t especially lead one to calmly think.

Escape time? Glad you had a good laugh, the joke’s on you. The only thing I have to escape is hubby if I didn’t get his dinner done. I’m surely not afraid of you or the debate, I am not the one that is having bouts of paranoia over this issue.

Get back to me when you have something substantial to say that could possibly refute the obvious intent of bills passed by congress, the refusal to release names of working groups on the SPP to U.S. taxpayers, which people are paid their salaries by U.S. taxpayers, the physical barriers put into place to keep participants’ identities secret at the SPP meetings, the refusal of congressional members to discuss this matter.

When plans are made in secret, when people’s identities are kept secret, when there is, therefore, no accountability to the people for what their agenda is, that’s exactly when suspicions should be raised, not dismissed with scoffing.

I haven’t yet begun to laugh. He who laughs last laughs best.

Totalization Agreement: Both Mexico and the United States tax foriegn income but also allow credits for taxes paid - what both countries are doing is combining INFORMATION so they know who is working and where. Simply put, it is an agreement between two nations with the principal goal of eliminating dual Social Security coverage and taxation. We have totalization agreements with over 20 countries, I haven't heard any complaints about them yet. The Hayworth amendment you mention is to prohibit payment inconsistent with the law...i.e., illegal aliens...another good thing.

NAFTA Highway: Most of the cites you have on that have the word "National" as in "U.S.", this does not affect sovereignty. They specifically lists the US States.

Hydrogeologic characterization, mapping, and modeling program for priority transboundary aquifers, and for other purposes: Ummmm...I bet you are one of the ones screaming about a border fence. If so, these are important factors that need to be considered when building such a massive fence. Why did you even put this on the list? It's basically an environmental impact study, nothing nefarious there, especially since Bush gave Chertoff the power to waive any environmental obstacles to the fence.

tax incentives and job training grants for communities affected by the migration of businesses and jobs to Canada or Mexico: I could have sworn you were complaining about job losses due to outsourcing...now you don't want to help those workers? Migration by businesses is a business decision made by the companies themselves, it has more to do with their financial bottom line than NAFTA.

To extend certain consumer protections to international remittance transfers of funds: A basic consumer protection bill to keep financial institutions from gouging people sending money overseas. Not a big deal that I can see.

To improve the security clearance process along the United States-Mexico border, to increase the number of detention beds, and for other purposes: What is your problem with that? This is a good thing.

To direct the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish a program to enhance the mutual security and safety of the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and for other purposes:

Again...what is the problem with this? From the text:

Directs the Secretary to report to the appropriate congressional committees every six months regarding: (1) security, cargo security, and the movement of goods; (2) border infrastructure and wait times; (3) security clearances and document integrity; (4) immigration and visa management; (5) visa policy coordination and immigration security; (6) North American visitor overstay program; (7) terrorist watch lists; (8) money laundering, income tax evasion, currency smuggling, and alien smuggling; (9) counterterrorism programs; (10) law enforcement cooperation; (11) biosecurity cooperation; (12) protection against nuclear and radiological threats; (13) emergency management cooperation; (14) cooperative energy policy; and (15) feasibility of a common external tariff and development assistance with Mexico.

With this type of cooperation from Mexico, we will all be safer. And the Ginny Brown-Waite amendment you reference limits the funding for this...that's good, not bad. Same with the King amendment, it limits funding.

North American Investment Fund Act:If you think Cornyn is a NWOer, you are more paranoid than I think. Again, from the text:

(1) increase the global economic competitiveness of North America; (2) promote economic development in Mexico in the areas of infrastructure, education, technology, and job training; and (3) reduce the wealth gap between Mexico and Canada, and between Mexico and the United States.
This is actually a provision to buffer the NAFTA impact and improving Mexico's economy would result in less illegal immigration. It also includes "conditions on U.S. and Canadian contributions based upon revenue measures to be taken by Mexico", basically "do the right things with the funding or we cut you off".

collect statistics, and prepare reports describing the statistics, relating to deaths occurring at the border between the United States and Mexico.

I don't know why you include some of these in here, there is nothing wrong with this.

To authorize funds for Federal-aid highways, highway safety programs, and transit programs, and for other purposes: We already have cross-border commerce, this is just to provide for safety and work to relieve congestion. Again, nothing nefarious.

To improve the reliability of the Nation's electric transmission system:Another safety measure.

To provide an extension of highway, highway safety, motor carrier safety, transit, and other programs funded out of the Highway Trust Fund:This just extends current highway projects.

I think what you are doing is that every time Mexico or Canada is mentioned in relation to legislation, you are reading more into it than is there. For the life of me, I don't understand why you even listed some of these things and why you are so paranoid about them.
