The FBI is investigating an alleged human smuggling operation based in Chaparral, N.M., that agents say is bringing "Iraqis and other Middle Eastern" individuals across the Rio Grande from Mexico.
An FBI intelligence report distributed by the Washington, D.C. Joint Terrorism Task Force, obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com, says the illegal ring has been bringing Iraqis across the border illegally for more than a year.
Border Patrol officials in the area said they were unaware of the specifics of the FBI's report, and federal prosecutors in New Mexico told ABCNews.com they had no current cases involving the illegal smuggling of Iraqis.
The FBI report, issued last week, says the smuggling organization "used to smuggle Mexicans, but decided to smuggle Iraqi or other Middle Eastern individuals because it was more lucrative." Each individual would be charged a fee of $20,000 to $25,000, according to the report.
The people to be smuggled would "gather at a house on the Mexican side of the border" and then cross the Rio Grande into the U.S., the report says.

ABC: Iraqi-U.S. Smuggling Ring Busted in Peru
These are flying in !
That was the first thought that crossed my mind.
Detroit has a huge Chaldean population and many of them have told me some of the horror stories that Catholic Arabs face from the muslims.
Self Help... My e-mailbox is continually flooded with email concerning gas prices and illegal immigrants. ...To boycott oil companies or not; to provide amnesty to illegal immigrants or not, etc., etc. Since I have, over time, become entirely jaded with the various unworkable 'solutions' proposed by the Democrats, Republicans, Sierra Club, ACLU, etc., and equally frustrated that nothing whatever is being done by any of them, I have now elected to personally solve these problems as they affect me. My personal solution at once resolves both my gas and illegal immigrant problems... I have hired illegal immigrants to push my car. They're plentiful, and cheaper than buying gas. Now here's the smart part... I pay them in pesos so they have to go home to spend it. ...I love it when a plan comes together.
In Other News... MEXICO CITY (BSNS) -- Large Mexican Earthquake Reported... A huge earthquake, with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale, has hit Mexico. Two million residents have died and over a million are injured. The country is totally ruined and the government doesn't even know where to start with asking for help to rebuild. The rest of the world is in shock, but has been quick to respond. Canada is sending troopers to help the Mexican army control the riots. Saudi Arabia is sending oil. Other Latin American countries are sending much-needed supplies. The European community (except France) is sending food and money. The United States, not to be outdone, has generously offered to assist it's neighbor to the South by immediately providing Two Million replacement Mexican citizens. |
Bump!
Thanks E.

But...but....but.......they have “family values” that don’t stop at the Rio Grande, and after all, they’re just smuggling over people who are members of the “religion of peace” and certainly those of “family values” south of the Rio Grande would never, ever smuggle anyone who was part of a terrorist cell across our borders. There is no security problem here, nosiree indeed. Chertoff’s gut told him so.
(sacrasm off)
Once again, the solution is obvious: More domestic surveillance of U.S. citizens.
