This really brings back memories. I was a working in a small Colorado mountain hospital about 30 years ago when a group of Green Berets were flown in to practice night parachute jumping in mountainous terrain. All of a sudden our little ER was full of men in camo with matching face paint and sprained ankles, knees and backs. That was my first experience at removing cactus needles from various parts of the human anatomy. The officer in charge was not especially happy with them! LOL
It brings back memories for me, too. A long time back, I remember the Monday after we lost a football game, scores of Cuban paratroopers landed at my high school. My history teacher thought they must have been way off course, but they shot him. Thankfully my brother Jed came back and picked me up, along with a few others. Got some supplies at old man Morris’ place out on the highway, then hid out in the mountains and fought a guerilla war. They were talking about dropping some Green Berets in to help us out in the springtime, but it never came to pass. Eventually that war, like all others wars, ended.
Or did I dream it all? Anyway, this story about paratroopers landing in Colorado reminded me of it. :0
