It has no description of how economic it is, but suppose they can scale it up large enough to let us "recycle" all of our CO2. Wow.

Let’s see here. We rid this world’s air of harmful CO2 and replace it with beneficial carbon monoxide. This can only be proposed from a California school.

What are they doing with the carbon monoxide again?

Another way to do the same thing is to use microbes to convert the light energy through photosynthesis to covalent bonds in sugars, then convert the sugars (fixed carbon which comes from CO2) to diesel.
The only thing we have to do is buy diesel vehicles.

I guarantee - without any doubt or question - that no matter how carbon emissions or global warming are “solved”, IT WILL NOT SATISFY THE ECO-NAZIS.
They will instantly find something else to moan about. They will continue to make all the same demands they are making now: that we change our lives, pay more taxes, and obey their stupid policies.
To: Thalos
Plus, we get the additional benefit of less anthropogenic CO2 since the carbon monoxide should kill most of the Earth’s inhabitants.

Kubiak and Sathrum need to watch their backs if their idea is good and not public enough to survive them.
Its interesting that cars’ catalytic converters convert CO into CO2.

One of these days we’ll be “recycling” all our CO2 so well that we won’t have any CO2 in the atmosphere at all. Huzzah!
Of course, no one mentions the fact that... plants need CO2 to photosynthesize, or that CO2 contributes roughly 12% of the greenhouse effect and that completely removing it from the atmosphere would likely dump us into a very severe ice age.
But what do I know.

The amazing process produces CO (carbon monoxide) which can be processed by bacterial fermentation to produce ethanol, and massive amounts industrial chemicals used to produce plastics. By splitting CO2 you can save fuel, produce useful chemicals and eliminate global warming greenhouse gases. What no apple pie and ice cream???

This from a different and a bit more detailed article. Read the other article.
“Because their device is not yet optimized, they still need to input additional energy for the process to work. However, they hope that their results, which they presented at last month’s meeting of the American Chemical Society, will draw attention to the promise of the approach.”

I hope it works out though. If it does, I wonder theory the left will think up to replace global warming to cripple the US economy.

Since CO2 is dispersed in the atmosphere at a concentration of about .05%, gotta wonder how they plan to catch hold of the stuff. Maybe butterfly nets.

Let me see: CO2 is one of the essential gasses for the survival of this planet, we need it for plants to thrive and produce oxygen. CO is a deadly gas that will kill humans pretty quickly as anyone who has ever seen someone inhale car exhaust to commit suicide can attest. So, in their infinite wisdom these idiots are going to get rid of CO2, the good gas, and replace it with CO, the bad gas. Can't wait for that to happen./SAR.
We have truely become a planet full of idiots.

You can't stop global warming by reducing (or even eliminating) carbon dioxide emissions--because global warming is caused by the Sun, and not by carbon dioxide:
