Senators, Others Seek Answers in Border Agents Case (Ramos & Compean)

Sutton has said that the sentence may well be severe, but pointed out that Congress sets sentencing guidelines.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who initiated the hearings, has disputed that point in letters to the Justice Department asking why charges carrying such heavy sentences had to be brought.

Sutton said, "It is the policy of the Department of Justice to bring the highest most readily provable charge against a defendant. We followed that policy in this case because what former agents Compean and Ramos did was a serious crime."

Poetic justice would be Johnny SLUTton getting murdered by a drug-smuggling illegal.

It is the policy of the Department of Justice to bring the highest most readily provable charge against a defendant.

Ya, B.S. It's still a judgment call on the part of the prosecutor. They did what they did because they wanted to, no more, no less.

This ass$$$$ charged them with a crime in no way intended for this circumstance, which is for bank robbers and drug dealers committing felonies with a gun.

Now this COWARD is trying to hide behind the Congress.

From the article Yorkie posted:

This case is a test of George Bush's character, compassion, and concern for drugs coming across our border. He can't duck responsibility: the prosecutor, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, and the judge, Kathleen Cardone, are both Bush appointees.

I wonder how Traitor Sutton sleeps at night?

QUISLING: a synonym for traitor, someone who collaborates with the invaders of his country.

U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.

FWIW, here is how Sen. Cornyn is quoted (misquoted, I hope) in the Houston Chronicle:

"It seems to me what they did, which was to shoot this unarmed, undocumented immigrant and then to cover it up and not report it, certainly was deserving of disciplinary activity, perhaps even termination from their job and perhaps charging them with an offense," Cornyn said. But he added, "My current impression is that that punishment is excessive."

Cornyn had a totally different take on it when he spoke with Ed Hendee and Pat Gray on the Houston talk radio station KSEV about 10 days ago. He seemed to agree with them that the Agents had been railroaded.
I guess that, like other politicians, he tells people what they want to hear.

I love that leftists will bring the ‘highest provable charge’ against U.S. border patrol agents doing their jobs! How about doing the same for illegals breaking our laws?

my guess for the “Why?” is that having Border patrol that actually does the job, puts a hindrence on those in the system who are taking bribes for the smuggling to continue.

My 1st suspect would be Sutton himself.

I heard a guy call the radio who said he was a drug smuggler for 10 years and two times a week he would meet a BP supervisor and hand over $75,000.00 and the BP guy would move his drugs across the border and deliver them to Houston for him.

That guy would really hate for lower agents to actually STOP the smuggling, now wouldn’t he?

For respect to their past exemplary service to the US, these two border agents should be out of prison while their courts appeals are going through the judicial system. Violent past convicted felons are allowed to be out until the apeals are through, why not these honorable men?
These men are political prisoners of Johnny Sutton and Gonzales.
