B4Ranch, I applaud all of your comments in post #1. Thank you!
A few disjointed comments of my own:
The longer Bush remains in office, the more he tends to compromise with the left. And, once he is out of office, barring a small miracle, his successor (now most likely to be Hillary Clinton) will have little interest in defending Israel, or, if were still involved in Iraq, seeing to it that the Iraq/Iran and Iraq/Syria borders are sealed to prevent the continuous flow of personnel and equipment from crossing.
America is the only force that is standing in the way of Islamic terrorism having its way with the world. Our former alliances with Europe are simply a fond memory. As Michael Novak recently observed, By 2032, like a frog who never felt the warm water slowly coming to a boil, important states of Europe may well be living under Minarets as, in his acute imagination, Edward Gibbon long ago foresaw.
It is old fashioned American morality, determination, courage, and belief in the sanctity of individual liberty that now solely defines western civilization. And those who are seeking to see to it that those essential qualities of western civilization continue to prevail (our proud fighting men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan chief among them) find themselves continuously and relentlessly under assault by those in the highest offices of our government, the mainstream media, and academia.
With every illegal alien who crosses our southern border, those traits that now define the foundation of western civilization become increasingly more diluted, and freedom world-wide becomes that much more precarious. Sometime down the road (a very short road), the world will once again need to look to America for strength and leadership but this time they will find an unrecognizable murky stew composed primarily of self-serving parasites who are unfamiliar with, and uninterested in, what is required to secure and defend human liberty. They never sacrificed for, or learned, what it meant. They simply crossed a border and claimed its treasure.
A pox on those who now sit in positions of leadership in Washington, single mindedly seeking to declare irrelevant the magnificent blueprint our beloved Founders fashioned for us. Because of the trust that has been placed in them, and because of the courage and sacrifice represented by those who went before, the degree of evil in Washington is, in an historic context, in some ways even more pernicious than that found in any Islamic terrorist mindset.

Sad but so true. Thank you, Joanie.
Well said, joanie.
