Israel has been threatened with annihilation by Persia before, and should have learned their lesson. (The Jews haven’t survived intended annihilations for 4000 years because they just kept getting lucky...)

There will always be an Israel for Gods chosen people.
True, luck has had no part in Israel's survival and return to national sovereignty 2000 year after it was driven from it's native land by Rome. Millions of individual Jews have perished over a long period of time under severe persecution such as no other nation has ever experienced. But the nation of Israel is composed of God's own chosen people, and He will keep it whole and operational long after all of it's enemies are gone and forgotten.
