WASHINGTON (AP) - Keith Ellison made history Thursday, becoming the first Muslim member of Congress and punctuating the occasion by taking a ceremonial oath with a Quran once owned by Thomas Jefferson.

This is from a foreign newspaper--do American papers allow someone to refer to the Nation of Islam as "extremist"?

I don't read most of the Dinosaur Media's BS. I'm trying to help them become dinosaur's.

I know that the media reports referred to the volume once in Thomas Jefferson’s library as a Koran, but as far as I can tell it is a translation into English (I don’t think Jefferson ever studied Arabic). According to the Wikipedia article on the Qur’an, translations into other languages are considered interpretations or glosses and are not considered the Qur’an. Moreover, the event where Ellison used Jefferson’s book was not the real swearing-in ceremony but a photo-op.
