i can imagine al gore pacing in front of his computer, at war with himself, trying to decide amongst ‘himselves’ whether or not to leave in the phrase “toppling communism.” eventually he stands over it, leaning toward the monitor with his index finger doing little figure eights above the enter key. with a deep exhale, he says “frig it,” (i imagine him instead saying frig’s big brother) and taps the key, sending the mail.
