At least one U.S. Border Patrol agent fired at a group of people in Mexico reportedly throwing rocks across the border last night, San Diego police said. It wasn't known if anyone was wounded.
Police said they were called to assist agents along the border in the Tijuana River Valley area south of Monument Road and Hollister Street about 8 p.m.
An initial report was that a group of people in Mexico were throwing rocks at agents and that one or more agents had shot someone. No victim was found on the U.S. side, police said. No information was released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection last night.

I’m not sure I buy this story as it stands. Firing into Mexico would be a major no no yet it says police were called to assist.
I would certainly tend to agree with you. BUT what is the law, national and international, on what to do if I'm just chillin' on my side of an international border and I come under attack from somebody on the other side? Do I have a duty to retreat? Should I call the other nation's 911 (if they have one) or what?
I mean, worst case, The boss-lady, 'orrible brat child, and I are having a nice picnic right near the Canadian border and somebody starts throwing rocks at us from that side, and comes close to hitting my daughter. Can I defend my family? 'Cause if that were to happen, I'd be likely to draw down on the guy.
Does anybody know how much trouble I'd be in, assuming my weapon and possession of it were legal where I was - like the famed Virginia - Canadian border or somesuch.

That would be what any normal person would do but I suspect our government in all their brilliance would have other ideas.
Arm our border patrol agents with sling shots to give them an edge in the rock fights.
Maybe there should be some kind of "proportional force" weapon like a beanbag shotgun...but we need to strike back and put the fear into them somehow.
They should be allowed to shoot-to-kill if the scumbags start throwing crap. Enough is enough.
