Sorry - however letting a 2 year old out of ones sight is stupid.

I never fail to be amazed at the number of perfect people I encounter on the internet.

“This shouldn’t happen to anyone.”

Absolutely. That said, I’m always appalled by the sanctimonious fools who show up on these threads. Really, really sad.

Hey the child is DEAD. Pray for her.

The child no longer needs our prayers.

Prayers for this family. They are the ones needing support.

We are going to disagree on that as long as she is still dead.

You and I have zero knowledge about what prayer is needed for the dead.
Therefore, she gets mine, as the family still has the ability to determine their own destiny.

I might add that she did not kill herself. I don't even have interest in praying for the expediter of her death.

Well then, perhaps I'll add prayers for you to my list.

It’s horrible. I had a co-worker who this happened to last year. It can destroy the best of men, and the worst of women...

No, it shouldn’t. Just so sad. I would ask everyone now to just stop with all the remarks and pray for the soul of the little girl, her devastated grandfather, her grandmother and Lord Almighty...her parents. They ALL need our love and support. Children move at the speed of sound and this little one was just rushing out to be with her grandpa whom she loved very much. It’s beyond sad.

Thank you for your kind comments and prayers for this little flower of a child.

The morning glory blooms but for an hour
and yet it differs not at heart
from the giant pine
that lives for a thousand years

Had they to do this all over again,

So sorry to all those involved. Backing-up should begin in milimeters : be it driveway, parking lot, etc. 'Ant speed' for the first few feet. This has saved my _ss many a time.

It’s not political YET. Let’s see if he tries to make it political.

Just saw this ping. It is so horrible that I didn’t want to read about it when I saw the headline.

Prayers for the whole family. Special prayers for the grandfather who ran over his precious grandbaby. I can’t bear to think what this poor man is going through right now. God bless him to be able to cope with it. God bless, comfort, and strengthen the parents of the little girl, and the whole family, to be able to cope with it.

U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., is a sponsor of the bill. A Senate committee has passed the bill, Fennell said. Hansen’s grief over running over his granddaughter will devastate him, but his position as a state senator will help Kids and Cars’ campaign for better vehicle safety, Fennell said.

I find this infuriating. I was all set to feel a bit sorry for this grandfather until this tidbit. If I had any less respect for Democrats than I already do, I'd suspect the Democrats staged the whole thing. The Democrat U.S. Senator from Wisconsin has a bill poised to make changes in auto safety but needs a poster child to get the sympathy factor going so the Democrat State Senator from Wisconsin takes it upon himself to oblige. Makes one hell of a coincidence, dontcha think?

I wonder what other poison Feingold is tucking into this bill and daring anyone to challenge, claiming they will be trampling on this child's memory? Bastards! They deserve to rot in hell.

I can’t imagine that Hansen backed over his grandchild intentionally. No way.

He is not (yet), and has not been working on this bill. It is Feingold’s bill.

On my post #26, his spokesman said:

“He will probably want to get involved because he will want to help it from happening to others,” she said.

That was an assumption, I presume.

My two year old unlocks doors. The total commitment you talk so cavalierly about is so much hot air. And I do take offense in your “screwing around” comment. You imply that most everyone else that has commented on this thread hasn’t seriously considered the heavy responsibility of rearing children. So, your criteria that you co-developed with your wife, does that include babysitters? Does your wife work? How are you going to control others that watch your child? Is there a camera in your parents house, so you can make sure that they don’t err and leave the room for a jiff? What happens if your child is watching a show, and the only parent that is home needs to use the bathroom. You just aren’t being realistic. Do you disconnect the telephone so that you are never distracted and always following your two year old? What if someone comes to the door. What if you leave the room, where your wife is watching the child, then she leaves without looking around because she thinks you took the too quiet toddler?

How tragic. He, and the family, are in my prayers.
