Apparently, and I say this through the eyes of one that has been following this for many years, the administrations that have let this issue go on unheeded have an agenda that is not "from the consent of the governed."

Might I remind those government and White House and Congress lurkers that the phrase "from the consent of the governed" comes from the Declaration of Independence, a document which resulted in an intercontinental war.

Just a FYI… for all the White House and Congress lurkers that are here.

It is imperative that we (Calif) get DiFi and BaBo out of the senate, but I don't know how we can in this state.

Part of my platform for 2008.

My e-mail to the white house and various senators: Mr. President, perhaps you and I have one thing in common, our strong feelings about the issue of illegal immigration. It should be obvious to even the most casual observer that you have to do something other than the status quo or the provisions of the senate bill.

Until we have security and some semblance of border control, most Americans will not support any benefits, amnesty, or whatever you want to do to help the illegal immigrant. This is the basic problem with your philosophy and those who supported the legislation. Security first. Then we will listen to other changes.

You need to impress upon us that you care more about us then you do illegal immigrants. And some of us have relatives waiting years to get in and the people you support can walk across tonight. THEY MUST GET IN LINE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!

Here is my proposal. Feel free to run with it.

1. Do the job you swore to do. Enforce the current laws. Support and reinforce the officers working the border. Support a federal law directing local police and other law enforcement to take action to detain and initiate deportation of those here illegally. Jail employers of illegal immigrants.

2. No benefits for those in the country illegally. Exception, those with true emergency medical conditions will receive treatment while their deportation is initiated.

3. Initiate a constitutional amendment to stop the anchor baby phenomenon.

4. Build the fence.

5. Change the immigration quotas to reflect real needs justified by industry and/or states. Make the justifications public. So the average American knows how many we are allowing in and why. We will support something logical, fair, and needed AFTER our security is taken care of.

Milton Friedman: A country cannot simultaneously be a welfare state and have open borders.

The positive in all this is that, with failure of the all conclusive / bipartisan / 'not perfect - but what is?' reform bill, our masters must introduce each element separately. So long as a bill is limited to single issues it can be understood and debated with some degree of efficiency. Content can be made known and individual bills defeated or passed in the light of day.

The negative is that, when defeated, they will simply be prettied up and thrown back into the arena, over and over and over again. Sooner or later even the worst can be enacted simply by becoming familiar and boring.

Cause for concern is that elected officials seem determined to make it happen, just as they are determined NOT to enforce existing laws in order to concentrate on changing their impact with new ones.

I also wonder about the 'unintended consequences' and conflicting results from future partisan elections. Increasingly republican and democrat don't apply. We posture and debate over party issues, left and right, but pro and anti amnesty forces each draw sponsors from across party lines - leaving us with faulty choices at election time. Do I vote for the 'conservative values' guy who supports open borders, or for a 'social liberal' who advocates cutting services to non-citizens? Does the moonbat down the street vote for troop withdrawal or for deportations?

Please don't laugh, because that conflict is just what we got with GWB and the evidence was all on the table through two elections.

In Feinstein's case I expect she votes the way her union support wants her to vote. Obviously, the farm workers want this 'blue card' bill while teamsters and aerospace workers are not threatened by it.

Time to call our senators again. They’re determined to push the amnesty bill through in increments, while hidden in other legislation, come hell or high water.

Is it amnesty or is it Guest Worker program. Are the immigration guards playing loose with the truth again??

Most of them would rather the crops rot in the field than have Mexicans pick them.

So, now we are getting the piecemeal amnesty bill. I think we are going to have to have a US citizen presence sitting in Congress to watch every stupid thing they do.

They are going to shove this down our throats in their usual traitorous stealth way.

This is what I don’t understand... How can anyone possibly take the war against terrorism seriously? One week Bush and Chertoff say they can’t enforce the law on illegal aliens working in the country, so they keep the borders wide open for all criminals to invade our country.

The next week they will both hold a news conferences warning Americans of dangerous Terrorist on their way to blow us all up! Why do the open borders crowd continue to not understand this is beyond me. Makes me wonder who the government thinks is a terrorists.

Headline? "Demand for rural housing soon to explode as millions seek to buy / build homes"

USDA Section 502 Direct Loans enables purchases of homes with government subsides to help pay mortgages for "qualified aliens." There's also other programs, like USDA's Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program (SFHGLP) but some may not meet the criteria as "qualified aliens."

". . . the USDA Office of the General Counsel has determined that the SFHGLP may not permit loans to be guaranteed unless the non-permanent alien is deemed to be a qualified alien."

Not to worry, you hard-working, family-loving, tax-paying backbone of the U.S. economy, if you can't squeeze in as a "qualified alien" go to HUD. HUD is not so mean-spirited and bigoted, ya see.

“Under the provisions of these bills, illegal alien farm workers would be able to obtain a “blue card” granting temporary legal status for themselves and their families if they could show they have worked in the U.S. at least 863 hours or 150 work days (5.75 hours constituting a work day) during the preceding two years. Subsequently, to apply for legal residency, they must demonstrate that they have worked in agriculture here: (1) 100 work days per year each of the first five years following enactment; (2) 150 work days per year each of the first three years following enactment; or (3) over the course of the first four years after enactment, 150 work days per year for three of those years and 100 work days for the other.”

So the bill REWARDS people who were BREAKING U.S. law for at least 150 days during the last two years!!!

Sent to Joe Courtney (D-CT) this afternoon:

Dear Mr. Courtney,

This note is regarding the AgJobs bill / H.R. 371 as well as any other bill on it's way through the system which seeks to grant "legal status" in any flavor it might be packaged.

Under no circumstances do most Americans support these efforts until and after our borders, ports and international airport points of entry are secured. You will, of course find a few very loud individuals on the far left shouting slogans such as "no human is illegal" and you'll find a few who attempt to paint this as a racial issue.

This opinion has no connection with race whatsoever, it's a national security and soverignty issue. If it is believed to be in our national interest to have more free trade and simpler movement of people and goods between the US, Canada and Mexico then lets ask them if they'd like to become the 51st and 52nd States and join our Union.

Otherwise, seal the damn borders and do it now.

Your vote in favor of any form of legal status for persons and/or their family who entered this country illegally and a vote made prior to the borders & points of entry being secure; Will ensure that you are looking for a job come the next election. Take care of the border issue first and then let's talk. No one wants to see the upheaval of attempting to deport these millions of hardworking people, but until that border is secure no one believes Congress, the Senate and least of all the President when they speak of "comprehensive" reform. Seal the border first, then call me.

Thanks and Best Regards,
