In his most recent hit piece aimed at undermining public opinion against the Iraq war effort, TIME columnist Joe Klein begins his diatribe with a startling piece of photography. President Bush is shown with several military personnel at Fort Benning from the shoulders down. None of the heads are visible.
In a further sign of disrespect (if not outright contempt), Klein even misspells military, as if TIME computers dont employ spell-check.
U.S. President George W. Bush poses with U.S. militray paratroopers undergoing training during a tour of Fort Benning, Georgia.
Kleins attack on President Bush and the military continues, as he attempts to make the case that AQI is absolutely not the same al Qaeda that was responsible for the 9/11 surprise attack
The group doing the most spectacular bombings in Iraq was named al-Qaeda in Mesopotamia by its founder, Abu Mousab al-Zarqawi, now deceased, in an attempt to aggrandize his reputation in jihadi-world. It is a sliver group, representing no more than 5% of the Sunni insurgency. It shares a philosophy, but not much else, with the real al-Qaeda, which operates out of Pakistan. How Klein came up with the 5% figure is not disclosed. It is, perhaps, as with so many assertions from the left, simply fabricated to fit the template. Or, perhaps Klein got his figures from some of the same AP stringers who have been responsible for some of the most glaring examples of mis-information and pro-jihadi propaganda. The fact is that there is a significant foreign element within the insurgency. Sorting out the players is difficult at best for the coalition. Support from the Sunni tribes is necessary, and building that support has been an important part of coalition successes in Anbar and Diyala.

What is this “TIME” thing? I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of it.
Was that “photo” published in Time, or just on the website? (not that I would ever look at either).
I thought maybe the photo would have some artistic merit or be unusual or interesting in some way. This one just looks plain stupid. It probably can be chalked up to a case of BDS.
Just like a stupid liberal to think he’s intelligent by showing the world what a colossal dumbbutt he is.
Time magazine is just SO over, and so is the pompous attention-whore hack Joe Klein. Bring on the emblamers.
Joe Klein and Time Magazine are worthless. I want to know the name of the editor who approved this GARBAGE.
Bingo. These clowns make crap up by chatting with each other, and then use themselves as "sources". Idiots...and no one ever calls them on it.
Until now.
Al Qaeda wants to decapitate American troops. Maybe Time is just trying to see “their point of view”.
The mainstream media are having major temper tantrums over President George Bush and his Iraq policies. Hopefully they will go into therapy and get some help before they become completely ineffective.
Exactly ... Time is going the way of LIFE, albeit largely for different, more ignoble reasons.
I appreciate the link.
Time’s time is past.
Agreed!
The media is putting on this awful spectacle because they think they are the forth branch of government and they cannot tolerate even a semi conservative administration. But the temper tantrums are ugly and will cause them to lose more readers and viewers.
So first a day or so ago we are told that Al Queda is at the same power level as 9/10/01...and yet they are not one and the same.
The point Klein is trying to push is that 95% of the hardcore fighters are Iraqi. While I won't make up any percentage the fact remains that a large portion, probably a majority, are foreign fighters.
On a side note: I will never forget when Klein had a cover story about five or six years ago that was titled (paraphrased): "The Problem With Democrats (And How They Can Fix It)"
While I can’t say the exact number of foreign fighters, one thing is for sure. Close to 100% of the suicide bombers have been foreign jihadis, looking for their 72 raisins.
