DETROIT, July 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Top campaign officials for Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich tonight expressed outrage that rival candidates Hillary Clinton and John Edwards were overheard collaborating on a strategy to eliminate other Democratic candidates from future debates and forums.

According to the Associated Press, Fox News Channel microphones picked up Clinton and Edwards on stage discussing their desire to limit future joint appearances to exclude some rivals lower in the crowded field. "We should try to have a more serious and a smaller group," Edwards said into Clinton's ear following a Presidential Forum in Detroit hosted by the NAACP on Thursday.

Clinton agreed with Edwards, according to print reports and video footage of the exchange. "We've got to cut the number. ... They're not serious," she said. Clinton added that she thought representatives of her campaign and Edwards' had already tried to limit the debates, and "we've gotta get back to it," according to the AP.

"Candidates, no matter how important or influential they perceive themselves to be, do not have and should not have the power to determine who is allowed to speak to the American public and who is not," said Kucinich.

"Imperial candidates are as repugnant to the American people and to our Democracy as an imperial President."

The Kucinich campaign will immediately take steps to address the planned actions of the Clinton and Edwards campaigns.

If telling the truth helps the democrats, then we’ve got serious problems on our own side.

How stupid. Do you also depend the NY Times when they tell the truth about some intelligence methods that the US uses? You give the same lame justification as them for helping our enemies.

So each of the GOP candidates should publish all of their “true” dirty laundry. How stupid is that?!

That’s true to some extent..the self fulfilling prophecy..but many, like Kucinich, Gravel, Dodd, Biden, Hunter, Tancredo, Gilmore, et al..have had 6 months or so to make their case..they haven’t caught on. Their continued presence demeans the whole process..

Kucinich is the older guy with the hot wife who is much younger than he is? Is America ready for such a thing? Oh wait - I’m drifting from template, only Republicans are subject to talk like that. My bad.

90% of the people that will eventually vote haven’t even started paying attention yet. The polls at this point are meaningless.

What were Bill Clinton’s polling numbers in July 1991 ? Or Ronald Reagan’s in July 1979 ?

I hate it when the media-annoited front runners try to silence opposition just because they aren’t loaded down with oodles of sleazy campaign cash.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rudy-Romney axis of evil try to knock out people like Duncan Hunter and Gov. Huckebee because they don’t have like $50 million on hand like Rudy and Romney

you don’t think Rudy McRomney would like to keep others from challenging them?

this is all about the media and campaign cash cows picking our leaders, not us. both sides let it happen

Who decides which candidate to drop? Someone other than the candi.dates themselves would be far more demeaning. Additionally, there is sufficient time for the “top” candidates to make campaign-destroying mistakes. Howard Dean was a top candidate when voting actually started when he gave the scream heard around the world. More competition is always better

I have no doubt that there are simalar things being whispered among top tier GOP candidates.

As the old saying goes "prove it".

That said, in this years run, I doubt it with these guys.

She wants their funds. As long as Obama is bringing in the gravy, she’ll let him ride. Then when he starts really spending it, she’ll got to her files and voila...the money will be hers.

Someome might want to let her know that Obama is making that money but just out and out thrashing her to pieces.

He is becoming the leader of the "I hate hillary" club and getting paid well to do it.

Personally, I’m banking on all of the democrats losing. Hillary never ceases to amaze me though with her arrogance. Likewise to Edwards.

How in the world can they just pretend the other candidates don’t exist?

Obama will probably get a lot of backlash support because of a stupid stunt like this. What they will probably do is arouse people out of their apathy and Obama can cry, “They’re picking on me again.” This time, it just might work.

American voters don’t like arrogance. Oh, excuse me, they’re called “elitists,” aren’t they.

Here’s a clue: get out one of those two-colored state maps from the last couple of elections. You know, the ones that are mostly red, with a few blue states colored in.

That’ll give them a clue as to how the election will go.
