I'd been hearing from critics for years that even if you didn't like his politics or methods, you had to admit he was a brilliant filmmaker who could make the most arcane subjects witty and entertaining. But what I saw was, frankly, pretty dry and dull. Scenes just dragged on long after someone should've yelled "Cut," and the whole thing was too long and repetitive. Even the good first half was the type of stuff that's done with much more drama and a faster pace on just about every "Dateline"/"20-20" type show on TV. And the second half was basically the same story about the miracle of socialized medicine told four times in a row, at length. A good editor could improve that movie immensely by chopping half an hour out of it.
Maybe Michael plans to make homosexuality more acceptable to mainstream America by making it seem really boring.
Maybe MM could go to all sorts of beach resorts and show us how fudge offered there is really packed.
