I’m a veteran and it makes me proud to know folks like you. It desn’t matter wheher one served in the Military, what matters is yu care about your country and you know right from wrong. Yes Murtha is a disgrace. I think it was Time Magazine that printed the original story by poking around the city and asking what well could have been an AQ sympathizer or dissident about the incident. Then they had about three or more retractions to the story! Yet, Murtha seems to enjoy smearing the Marine Corps while at the same time playing up his hero role while serving as an S-2 officer in RVN. I personally feel Murtha has a vendetta against those who questioned his purple hearts and BSV award dates, so; he takes it out on others anytime he hears of any derogatory allegation. The sad thing is that these Marines are in debt to the tune of about $250K each in legal expenses to defend themselves for actions that were approved by a Marine officer according to what I have read.
No, I never had to fight in any city or any built up area where civilians could be exposed to outgoing or incoming fire. Anyone with an ounce of sense knows that there will be some civilian casualties in urban warfare. Some in Congress have decided that they are more qualified to lead our military in every aspect of war then the commanders and NCO’s of the military are.
