Are you serious? Look at what he said in 2006 ... before he was running for president, before the American people were hopping mad about amnesty. How is what he said in 2006 and what he said in 2007 any different than Bush pushing amnesty but telling us it's not amnesty?
If you are concerned about the next 12 to 20 million and not the ones who are here, if you are counting on some of them to decide for themselves to leave the country and you're unwilling to force them to leave, then what would you call it?
Whether he grants them amnesty or just - through the ICE as part of the executive branch - ignores their illegal status, it's all the same.
Thompson made it clear a year ago that he is in favor of amnesty. That's what a path to citizenship means.
Now, as a presidential candidate, he's opposed to amnesty but there's nothing you can do about the illegals currently here except hope they'll go away.
