Suffice it to say, there is NO SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE

Suffice it to say there is NO OFFICIAL STATE RELIGION, Christian or otherwise.

...when someone tries to take down a nativity or star of David from public views because of the freedom to place those,

... tries to; did I read that correctly, tries to take down a nativity or a star of David" or the Ten commandments or discussion of homosexuality to the congregation on Sunday, and so on just short of forever. There's no tries to it. It happens all the time, north to south, east to west. All anyone has to do is say they are offended and poof, there goes another Christian symbol. Teach Islam in public schools to Christian kids and "tuff stuff". Get used to it. Teach little kids about "I have two mommies" amd let a Christian complain they are offended and it's "too bad".

Get real.

BTW, India has a democratic form of government. Their laws are remarkably the same as ours. I know many Hindus and Moslems from India and they strive for the same things as Americans and get angry about the same sorts of political abuses as we do.

It's simply amazing how much we have in common with those folks.

At the same time they resolved their disputes among religions ages ago by prohibiting people from switching from one to another yet allowing each individual to pretty much believe what he wants.

The conflict between the Moslems and Hindus is of much more recent origin. It has not yet been resolved.

Every now and then mobs of Hindus run riot in Moslem neighborhoods and kill Moslems. Sometimes the Moslems run riot in Hindu neighborhoods and kill Hindus.

They don't do that here. We don't either.

There is not a single Hindu in the Senate, and I believe Bobby Jindal (House) is a Christian. So what was the point of this nonsense?

Why are you lecturing me?

My point still stands. Atheists like freeper “lesser satan” always show up on threads about religion in general, and Christianity in particular. It’s a fact.

Because the Senate floor is considered a public square, a representation of the citizens, and while there may not be a Hindu in the Senate, there is a sizable Hindu population in the US. This is giving this part of the population the freedom that we’ve given others to express their religion in the public square. This is not endorsing this religion, nor is it forcing anyone to pray with this religion, it is representing the freedom of religion and expression granted to us by the Constitution.

Just as a Christian prayer, as we have almost every day in the Senate is not specifically endorsing Christianity as the ‘state’ religion, nor do we force the members of the Senate to take part in the Christian prayer. We are celebrating the freedom to express our faith through prayer.

There are Hindus in the electorate.

In America the people, not the Senators, are sovereign.

Politely sit through it and pray to your god, but give them the common courtesy you’d expect during a Christian prayer.

That sounds remarkably like some "golden rule" or something I once read about somewhere.

I think the Dhimmis planned this as a slap in the face of America’s Christian heritage and its vital role in shaping our nation and our destiny. This was not something that happened by accident.

You restrict my answer and you don't deserve an answer. You have my answer. You just don't like it and want to put words in my mouth. But I'll attempt to get through your density one more time - when the Constitution is used as a tool for someone's adgenda, and not for that which it was intended, then there is no discussion. Your version of unrestrained freedon was never intended or assummed. Would you defend your "right" to yell "fire" in a packed theater! How 'bout your "right" to walk down the street naked as an earthworm! Your "right" to photograph little children being made to do unspeakable (to me at least) things and posting them on the I-net or publish them in books. Need I go on. I think not.

Be gone.

It’s your chance to witness to him. Get with it. Personally, I prefer my demons in Hell ~ where they can stay.

In India, they are. Muslims and Christians get along rather well there, largely due to the Hindu fanatics.

The problem is to “falsely yell fire”, not to “yell fire”. After all, the theatre could be burning and the people need to be warned. Else, you will cause them to die through your inaction.

To falsely yell fire is not covered under freedom of expression because it infringes on other’s safety. Freedom ends the moment it infringes on another’s freedom. It then moves from freedom to oppression or coercion.

The government is doing everything it can to bring the wrath of God on us! Judging from all the bad things going on in America now, I would say it’s already begun! We’ve turned our back on Him, and now He’s turning His back on us!

“Prayers of others do not fit in our Judeo/Christian nation.”

What do you suggest as a remedy to that pesky 1st Amendment issue?

No, there is not an official "religion". There is NO SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE because, State is state and religion or Christianity is just that. Never the twain shall meet. They are both rights, never dependant on each other. BUT free to be intermingled to a point. Do you really want a nation where any and everything goes. Well, you are getting it. See if you like it as more and more freedoms are taken and more law defined restrictions are imposed. When people can no longer restrain themselves, more laws appear and more freedom is taken.

People who argue that there is separation of church and state assume there is a need for such a law. We DO NOT HAVE SUCH A LAW. We do not need such a law.

Big sigh. Don't get it if you don't want to. You even have some freedom to be part of the problem I guess. It's just that our founders never invisioned today when most of what they put down on parchment would be so twisted as to favor whatever negativism someone could think of. It's become a sick game and the game is ruining this nation that I love.
