If the continent is to be joined together (which it isn’t) let’s recall that we own this place. It might actually be a good idea.

I think that point is very debateable, but assume for one moment that it might be correct...

Then why not be upfront about the plan and let's make Canada and Mexico the 51st and 52nd states. If that's not palatable, then what is it about the uniquely American system that they can't stand any longer and which absolutely must be side stepped to do this another way?

Dare I say it's the very individual rights we have here which we lose the moment we step over either our Northern or Southern borders?

Unless they want to be the next two states, there is no way this is even debateable to me.
