I was in Tuxpan, Mexico less than 10 years ago and toured the compound where Castro, Che and their group lived and plotted to overthrow Batista.

Wish I could find my pictures as the walls were covered with photos of them. They departed for Cuba in in 1956 along with 80 others in a cabin cruiser called the Granma.

Tuxpan is halfway between Tampico and Veracruz.

We drove south when spring break hit and he fly to Cuba just in time to encounter Castro’s goons at road blocks

He had several close shaves as Gringos were not welcomed by the goons
