Which shows you clearly know nothing about Louisiana elections. Now, they had a bill to change this, don’t know if it passed or not, but in the Louisiana primary system, all candidates run against each other in one huge primary, and the top two vote getters go to a runoff, which for them is the general election. If someone gets more than 50% in the first primary, they are automatically elected.

Someone who is actually still in the state let me know if this is still the system, cause I know it was in the New Orleans election last year.

I believe that we now have party primaries for federal offices instead of the open primaries, but the state elections are still open primaries.
