Siegelman keeps going on about how all of this has been a conspiracy to keep him out of the Governor’s Mansion. That was a part of his defense in the trial. Even the firing of the US Attorneys was a part of the conspiracy to keep him from being re-elected governor. He has spent his entire adult life as an elected official, and believes that he is entitled to public office. This is from the same person who had a historical marker placed in front of the house in which he lived before being elected governor because the first person in Alabama history elected to just about every statewide office in the state (himself) lived there. Typically, one of his supporters bought the dump for twice the assessed value.
