Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, answered questions from Israeli children Tuesday in his first visit to the Holy Land, showing animation and energy in discussing the feelings and justification for space travel.
Armstrong was invited by a local investment company to lecture on the subject of motivation. In the morning, he visited the Space and Technology Museum in Haifa, where he talked to a group of children, museum spokeswoman Ahuva Kfir said.

"How does it feel to be inside a space ship?" a small girl asked him. With a huge smile, Armstrong replied, "You would like it."
Asked if he would take a second chance to go back to the moon today, Armstrong jumped to his feet and said, "Of course," and embracing the questioner, a teenage boy, asking him if he would like to come along.
Armstrong left Israel Tuesday evening without talking to reporters.

When I was a kid my grandfather often had dealings with James McDivitt. I loved going along because he never minded answering questions about being in space.
It’s odd Armstrong has eschwed the pubicity and fame he richly deserves.
I love it though...
Imagine how he could have really cashed in and cheapened his fame. Moonburger chains, etc. I also wonder how weird livin his life might be.
First man on the moon at Denny’s drinkin coffee kinda stuff. Neil waiting in line at the hardware store..
It’ll be a sad day when he goes. I hope we are going to have a memorial, not just for him, but for all those who are willing to take a chance.
my mother was best friends w/”Buzz” Aldrins sister in Montclair N.J.....he was the “punky” little brother.......{he was the 2nd man on the moon}
Balls beyond belief.
This guy walks into the room and every other person there probably feels the weight of their own personal shortcomings placed squarely on their backs right until the moment that Armstrong assures them that he's just plain folks himself.
Nice post.
My mom went to school with Neil Armstorng in Wapakoneta, Ohio
Armstrong is very shy. He got to be first on the Moon because he was a civilian, and because he wasn’t famous. (The government didn’t want somebody too popular in case something went wrong.)
Bump for later
He wasn’t shy enough to not speak in Israel.
I got that kind of a kick from meeting Al Worden (command module pilot for Apollo 12) back in October!
The closest I was ever to Neil Armstrong was after a long night of working in that area.
After a 2:00 A.M. dinner at the Waffle House, I simply walked across the street and got a good look at this beauty:

The Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum is in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
I really want to check it out (other than the middle of the night) someday, with my kids, so that we can all get a better idea of what an amazing accomplishment it was to put a man on the moon, and the sheer courage it took for all of those folks to pull of the unimaginable.
Nice pic. Hope you have a chance to see the museum
I’m surprised they didn’t ask him why he faked the moon landing, LOL....
I’m seeing a lot of that lately, where people just assert that the whole thing was faked. I think it’s a coordinated campaign by liberals to further tear down everything that might inspire pride in America. Anything that makes the USA look good, makes liberals froth at the mouth with hatred.

Twelve stars with the moon under their feet, all Americans.
We named our first son Neil after this wonderful astronaut.
Our son was born in Ohio on a late June night in 1986. As we drove down the highway, the full moon was positioned such that we were driving into it.
Got that right...
Imagine having to land a spaceship with an Atari computer and doing math in your head? [Apollo 13].
Maybe I’m overstating it, but I think that I’d be as unnerved trying to land the Apollo Lunar Module as I would be perched on a long wooden plank suspended out over the Grand Canyon, sitting on a wobbly bar stool doing Algebra problems while people across the canyon were shooting rifle bullets at me.
