McCain Loses Two Top Aides From Troubled Campaign
CONGRESSIONAL QUARTERLY ^ | July 10, 2007 | Greg Giroux

Two top aides resigned Tuesday from the 2008 presidential campaign of Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain — the latest sign of disarray for the one-time GOP front-runner, whose White House bid has been beset by stagnant poll numbers, lower-than-expected fundraising and staff layoffs.

CQPolitics.com Daily E-mail CQ Midday Update from Capitol Hill Congressional Quarterly Free Newsletters The latest to leave McCain’s camp are campaign manager Terry Nelson and chief strategist John Weaver. Nelson formerly was a top political aide to President George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election campaign and to the National Republican Congressional Committee, which oversees the party’s strategy in House campaigns; Weaver has long been a friend and close political adviser to McCain.

All parties sought to portray their departures as amicable.

And thank God for that.

If it is these aides who convinced McCain to drift toward useless RINOism then I would say good move...too late, much too late...but good move.

But of course, that is not the case. Johnny the Idiot has caused deep damage to the conservative cause and the Republican party, via his unquenchable love for the media spotlight, and his need for ego-stroking from the talentless fools in the MSM.

McCain can blame his failure DIRECTLY on his pro-amnesty stance. Its nice to see soeone paying a price for their ridiculous and insidious position.

Maybe Nelson and Weaver can get hired over at the Ron Paul campaign, since they seem to specialize in losers.

Are there ANY McCain supporters on FR? I can’t imagine anyone voting for this guy and I really only know one person I have ever met who supports him.

****”The NYT doesn’t get their candidate against the White Witch....”****

Exactly. The NYT and the rest of MSM has been telling us for over a year now that it was all down to Hilly and McLib. I guess they haven’t figured out yet that the liberals DO NOT get to nominate the GOP candidate (they would love it if the GOP nominee was someone as weak and closet liberal as McLib).

I am personally glad to see a RINO like McToast going down in flames.

I think there is more to it than that. Consider; the utter contempt he showed for conservative Christians in the run up to the 2000 election, campaign finance reform that muzzled conservative activist groups about six weeks before federal elections as I recall. Let's not forget about the gang of 14 that allowed the Dims to filibuster many fine conservative judges when we could have had them all and broken the dims back in the process. Then to add insult to injury he backs illegals over citizens not once as yo pointed out but twice. IMHO John never had a chance.
