A guy by the name of Alexander Butterfield (almost too) matter-of-factly mentioned the tapes during Watergate testimony. Baker and Thompson had little if anything to do with it. This guy Viguerie makes it sound like Thompson broke open the whole investigation. Just a little bit of a stretch.
Either way, why would that bother anyone?
