We don't have a Reagan. But painting Thompson as one doesn't make it true. If the man IS one of us, he will seek our support, not the other way around. None of the candidates has Reagan's appeal and those who are small government conservatives are rejected by GOP voters because they're considered "unelectable." If we drop our principles just because we're afraid of Hillary, we'll most likely get her or a Republican President who is Hillary Lite. And we'll wind up hating ourselves for it.

I agree, but going after Thompson without giving him a chance to reach out is counterproductive. Thompson has not announced yet, but every move he's made indicates that he's going to seek out movement conservative support.

From his early opposition to the immigration bill, to his commentary on hot button grassroots issues like the Fairness Doctrine, his backing away from McCain-Feingold, his reaffirmation of his pro-life position, including opposition to embryonic stem cell funding, his hardline stance on Islamic terror and his pro-growth economic stances every move he has made is in line with the conservative agenda.

I'm sure Thompson is a lot better than Hillary-lite or Giuliani and right now anyone that can derail Rudy is looking good to me.
